4-5-2010

We have had an eventful week. Astrid broke her right arm. She cannot stand not being active. It is really bothering her. Then Astrid cut off 10 inches of her hair to donate to St. Jude's. This made Eric very sick.
Siggie turned 5 and today got her kindergarten shots. She was going to be brave. She was very brave on the first two and then the old nurse stuck the third one in the fatty part on the back of her left arm and Siggie screamed that she was burning her and her arm was on fire. After that she went and spent all of her birthday money from Pop and Gigi. I usually make them save some. I said "Siggie do you want to put some in the bank?" She said "Why when I can spend it?" Oh dear!
Ingrid also got her hair cut. She has been wanting "side" bangs and she talked the hair dresser into them. They do look cute.

Doctor

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true? A: Your heart only good for so many beats and that it...don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiency. What does cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So steak is nothing more than efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef also good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And pork chop can give you 100% of recommended daily allowance of vegetable product.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain...good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food are fried these day in vegetable oil. In fact, they permeated by it. How could get more vegetable be bad for you?!? Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure? A: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me.
Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle? A: Hey! 'Round' a shape! Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. AND.....For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies. 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
CONCLUSION:Eat and drink what you like.Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Astrid and Ingrid have completed their 1st Marathon

The girls went to Little Rock to finish their marathon. They had fun 25 miles during their recesses at school and ran the last one in Little Rock. Astrid was the first girl from her school across the finish line and Ingrid was not far behind. It was a fun day and I am proud of my girls.

Snow Days

Well two of my children ran off to Pop's last night. But one sweet girl stayed home. I lay on the couch reading a book about Queen Elizabeth I when she came in dressed in costume as an Officer Gutzman and was wanting to arrest me for not paying my bills. Ingrid has such an imagination and she kept me in stitches with her skits last night. In the picture she is dressed as Officer Gutzman. This morning she braved the snow to make a couple of snow angels. Her sisters have come home so they are all playing together sweetly for now.

Astrid and I have the cake ready

Siggie mixed up this Chocolate pound cake for Ingrid and Astrid frosted it. I hope it will be good. It is going to be sweet and fattening I know that from the ingredients.
I have pinto beans in the crock pot....what other 8 year old would request pinto beans for her birthday meal. Sigrid's Christmas program for school is tomorrow night. I told Ingrid I was sorry I knew it was suppose to be her day....her response "It is okay. It will be like getting another special present from Siggie." Ingird is such a good girl. Gigi went and had lunch with her today and took her refried beans from Taco Bell. I think everyone should understand why her nickname is BEAN.

Ingrid is turning 8!!

Ingrid is turning 8 on Thursday. She is so social so we have big plans. Her best friend from Morrilton and 3 of her girlfriends from school are coming home with her Friday and we are going to the JumpPlace, out for pizza, back home for a movie, cake, and camping out upstairs in the tent and making Christmas ornaments. I hope all this lives up to her expectations and she has a good time. She is really excited about all the girls coming home with her. There will be no fights because she is a Peacemaker and will make sure everyone that comes is happy. I just hope she is HAPPY!!! I wish her a life full of joy, and all her hearts desires.

Astrid's Soccer Buddies

The girls placed 3rd in Little Rock a couple of weekends ago and then last weekend they all stayed the night at Myah's house and slept outside in a tent and roasted hot dogs and marshmellows to celebrate. It was Astrid's kind of party.

current pictures

In the top pic Ingrid is very upset with me about something....I think I wouldn't let her wear flip flops to school on this cold rainy day. The other pics are soccer this year. Siggie is playing but doesn't seem to care about it. Astrid is playing very well again this year....I think she has grown into her feet again. She is a ladies 6 1/2 or 7. I need to take a pic of Ingrid at dance tomorrow. She does very well and is the youngest in her class. they moved her up with the grade ahead of her. And as far as my eyes can tell she is far better than these girls too.
I went to parent teacher conferences tonight. Nothing but good news there. Ingrids teacher really bragged on her writing abilities and how advanced she is in this area. She said Ingrid's stories are very entertaining. I will have to type one out on here for yall to read.
Astrid does well in school but is quiet and shy and likes to make sure she doesn't stand out.
I wonder what will happen next year when I have conferences on Sigrid? I think my luck will have run out by then.....

Taylor Swift

Well the girls had an awesome time seeing Taylor Swift last night. They have a wonderful Aunt who bought them tickets and took them. I took a few pictures but none worth posting. Hopefully the wonderful Aunt will share hers with you.
All has been well here just lots of school and running around. Soccer and dance also begins once school begins so BUSY BUSY BUSY!!! Sigrid is also playing soccer this year and Eric is coaching her team. She was upset about her daddy not letting her start the game but she is not one of the best players YET. Hopefully she will gain some skill but she may not....only time will tell. Astrid played awesome at her game and poor Ingrid was bored with all this soccer. Ingrid is taking dance on Tues nights for 1 and 1/2 and she reads above a 5th grade reading level her teacher told us Thurs. night and she is only 7!! I am proud of them all!!!

Thank you for the Birthday wishes!!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Astrid drew me a picture of a horse. Sigrid colored me a picture and wrapped up a seashell out of her room in notebook paper to give to me. Ingrid made me a birthday cake out of paper, gave me one of her necklaces, all of her pennies, and wrapped up one of her toys for me. They also made me cupcakes. I sat at the kitchen table giving directions and stayed out of the way. They did all the making. All in all it was a wonderful day and I am wonderfully blessed.

I read a fiction book last night called the Last Sin Eater. I did not know about this custom that was brought over by the Welsh and Scotts. Some unlucky soul would be chosen to be the Sin Eater and when someone died would come to the body and take all the sins upon himself and burn in Hell for all the sins he carried. It was very interesting and has made me want to read more about it. I am glad I know that only one can bear my sins. And I am so thankful He did. The greatest gift of all.
