Beauty

The red and white doiley in my china cabinet was made by my mother's Grandma Powell and the solid white doiley that stays on my keepsake chest was made by my Aunt Patsy. They are both beautiful, and they are some of my most treasured possessions.

Labor Day Weekend

Okay these pictures are not at all in the order I inteded them to be. The last one should be the first one, the first one should be in the middle and the middle one should be last.

Today Astrid and Ingrid had a blast playing with the wagon. Astrid would pull it to the top of various little hills in our yard and then hop in and she and Ingie would roll down. In these pictures they are rolling down backward and having a gay ole time. I had pulled Sigie in the wagon down to the lake. The big girls and I were looking for flat rocks so Daddy could build us a patio. We took our chalk so we could mark the ones we wanted. We will have to find a way for Pop to get them from the lake to our house. We saw lots of muskadines. They were too high in the trees for us to pick them.

Yesterday Astrid and Ingrid made mud pies and Sigie was the taste tester as you can see from the middle picture.

Happy Birthday Aunt Helen!!!

Happy birhtday to my aunt Helen. Her birthday is tomorrow but I will not get up early enough to get this on my blog before having to go to work so I will put it up tonight. I have always loved aunt Helen so. I was always envious of her children...she understood fashion, brand name clothes, hairstyles where as my mom did not. As an adult I realize of how little importance that is but to my young eyes She was so cool!!! and still is....I remember anytime we went to silver dollar city or dog patch Helen is who took us(just not my mom and dad's cup of tea). She was so crafty also...my christmas tree each year is covered with ornaments she painted...one year she sent me some to paint and instructed me on how to do it. I tried to paint my Santa exactly like the one she had painted for us. She made wonderful homemade suckers for each holiday and mailed them to all her neices and nephews. I always know exactly how old Helen is because she is 20 years older than me.....She is a jewel and I wish her a Happy day!!!I love you!

Sigie's new goose egg. She fell again and this time hit the right side of her head. Thank goodness no stitiches needed.

Astrid, Ingrid and Sigrid are working hard on anniversary cards for Uncle Greg and Auntie Erin. They will be married for one year on the 15th.

Thank God for Sisters

I knew Erin would rather have a picture of the girls posted than one of her but I still might get one of her up there yet. I just wanted everyone to know how lucky I am to have Erin for my little sis. Who else would spend 4 hours in a car and stay up 24 hours straight just to take care of her three nieces. And then wouldn't even take the money left for her. I started back to work Weds. and Eric and Gigi started to work Friday....Poppa was working the Bargains Galore on 64 (but he volunteered to keep all the girls anyway). For three days in August the child care center I work at closes and we do continuing education....well all of us who work there take our kids there so it puts us in just a little bit of a bind. But I have a little sis who always comes to my rescue. She says the girls were really good for her but I worry she is just saying that. I know Greg played Hide-n-seek with them and that is one of their favorite games. Erin said Sigie even tried to play. She would lay on the floor and count and then go hide. When Ingie counts instead of saying "Ready or not here I come".....she says "here I'm not here I am".....I love to watch the girls play this and occassionally get in on the fun myself. I hear someone calling "Momma Momma"....that is my cue to go.

Sigie's teething ring

The girls and I went to the pool on Wednesday. It sure was hot but they wanted to swim one last time before summer was over. Sigie and I tried to stay in the shade.....

summer is almost over

Here is Astrid and Ingrid at Rotary Ann, the rest stop, on the way home from Auntie Hey's. Sigie won't stay still long enough for me to get a picture of all three of them together.

Happy Birthday Uncle Mike

I hope Uncle Mike has a Happy Happy Day!!!Things I remember about my Uncle Mike....
Yes he bought Erin the beautiful purple umbrella and I was green with envy
I used to play with Kristina at his Mechanic shop in Green Forest looking for Rollie Pollies....he never yelled at us or complained we were in the way
I like his smile....he seemed to always be smiling or at least his eyes always look mischevious
One time when I drove to Arizona with Aaron...he put new brakes on my car before he would let us drive back to Arkansas and somewhere along the trip home I found 100 dollars in my glove box....(Helen might have done that)Anyway Happy Birthday to a Great Uncle....

Ingie's Playmate

Ingie had a friend over Monday. They played dress-up, barbie dolls, and all the stuff Astrid doesn't like to play. Ingie says Abby Grace is her bestest most special friend. I think she is too young to know Astrid is also her most special friend....she just thinks she can be her sister. Ingie also worries when Auntie Erin has babies who will be her Aunt. She just hasn't quite grasped the concept that we all wear many hats.

Our Trip

Well we had a nice visit with auntie Hey. All Astrid was concerned about was when she could see Uncle Greg. He was asleep because he had worked the night before. When he woke up he took her to the car parts store with him and she helped him with his "Beast" then he took her for a ride in it. She loved it. Ingrid played with her new mermaid dolls and Erin and I took the girls to the Froggie pool. Ingrid made new friends and had a blast. Astrid sat on the side and wondered when she could go back and see Greg. Gigi got to experience what it is like to sleep with three girls. Astrid sleeps like a log....Sigrid and Ingrid roll around and kick and whimper all night.

It was good to see my sister.

For Aunt Helen

Paula Deen has a cooking show on the food network. She is from Albany, Georgia. She has a restuarant in Savannah, GA called the Lady and Sons. She cooks good southern food just like I am used to. She makes a lot of things my Me-ma used to cook. Out here she comes on at 6:00 am and 9:30 am on Saturdays and Sundays. Through the week I think she comes on here at 12:00.....I don't usually watch through the week. Her show is called Paula's Home Cooking. I just love her and love to hear her talk. I have tried lots of her recipes and can't think of any I have messed up. Her ingredients are simple and usually I have heard of or seen most the recipes. Her being from Georgia she does cook some oysters which I have no desire to try.

My first job I worked at Wal-mart....first as a cashier, then in health and beauty aids, and then in womens clothing....my mother encouraged me to apply for this job...she new she would get a discount.
While I worked at Wal-mart I would also volunteer at the hospital....they voted me volunteer of the year and as soon as I graduated high school they gave me a job. I didn't work in a typical volunteer job. I worked in the Human Resources department and therefore had access to all employee records. It was then that I decided I wanted to work in the health feild. I knew how much everyone in that hospital made. The job they gave me when I graduated was as the receptionist for the Cancer center. I worked for one fabulous doctor and one bitty. I worked 30-36 hours a week and went to college full time.
To have a good medical career and because I got married I transfered schools. While a the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville I did many jobs, I worked in the registrars job as work study. I took care of an 80 year old man with cancer... I cooked, cleaned and took care of his garden, I was a graduate assistant to one of the professors in the Speech department, I babysit one of my professors little boy and in turn she took care of me when I needed it and allowed me to sleep at her house many nights.
After graduating with my Masters degree in Communication disorders I am a speech-langauge pathologist. I have worked in nursing homes, at Carroll Regional Medical Center, and for several Carroll County public schools. I Now am the Director of the Speech Department for and intergrated preschool where I work with 0-5 year olds and mentally disabled adults in their work environment. I am blessed with my job.

Stitches

I took the one picture of Sigie yesterday in her new Auntie shirt. Then I tried to go to work this morning to take care of a little paperwork and I had been there 10 minutes when they paged me for a phone call. I question whether to pick it up or not because everyone knows I don't work in the summer but I picked it up anyway and it is Eric very concerned Sigie needs stitches. Well she needed 4 to be exact. She fell while playing and hit her head on the corner of the entertainment center. We are not exaggerating when we say she is a dangerous child. Dr. Nelson said she could glue them or stitch them. The glue would be painless but leave a good size scar. Eric wanted the glue I went for the stitiches. He got to sit in the waiting room with the big girls. I got to console Sigie while they sewed her up. Dr. Nelson had said she would fall asleep once they injected the medicine around the wound. Sigrid fought her screaming and kicking til the last stitch. Dr. Nelson was very calm and steady through the whole process she just kept saying "she sure has a lot of fight in her." Wonder where she gets that......
