For Aunt Helen

Well Aunt Helen Eric had to take food to work today. So that means I had to cook. I made cinnamon rings last night and baked and frosted them this morning so they were nice and warm. Reportedly as soon as the plate hit the table they were gone. I have had several emails about how yummy they were and several emails from sadden individuals who were not there fast enough. Someone had the wise idea my mother taught me to make them.

Something else I learned from Helen "how to be a good kiss a**". SO I made another one and took it to the Special Education Office. This is where my boss is and where the state monitors are right now monitoring Russellville's Special Ed paperwork. I don't think there will be many mistakes found in my paperwork.

Love you Aunt Helen. I took pics of them also but can't upload them from work. I will upload them tonight so Helen can see how good I did.

Christmas Parade

Ingrid was invited to be in the Christmas Parade. She was on the float for her Dance Studio. Her teacher really thinks she is something and is always saying she forgets she is only 8. Mrs. Paige instructed the girls she wanted them to sing Christmas Carols while the float was moving. Well Ingrid being the creative one she is changed the words to Jingle Bells to include things about the Dance Studio. Mrs. Paige was thrilled and wanted her to sing that through the whole parade. Ingrid taught it to two other girls and they all sang it during the parade.

Cousins

Clayton came last week and Siggie is missing him today. Sisters are leaving her out and she wishes Clayton was here so she could impart more of her wisdom to him.

Things I learned from Siggie

Fleta came yesterday to get something I had for Hannah. We were gone to a soccer game but Siggie stayed behind to help Aunt Fleta. Last night Siggie told me.....

Fleta wanted to take your new ladder but I told her "No you can't have that one but you can take one of these old wooden ones over here" (those were Pops)

First Siggie told me Fleta was the youngest then she said "No that is wrong. Gigi is the youngest of all but not like 6 or 7 young. She is just young for old people."

I asked Siggie if Fleta went down her slide. She said "No cause she is old."

Problem

I have been finding piles of hair and strings behind doors, under dressers and tables. I think I have all the scissors put up but some how she keeps finding more pairs. When she stayed with Pop before she started back to school Gigi found a 3 inch piece of blond hair under her magnifying mirror.
I thought we wouldn't do this anymore after we cut our hair and talked a little boy into cutting his hair in preschool. When I picked her up that day she cried worried she wouldn't be pretty anymore.
I guess we have just moved on to cutting other things.

Which one do you want Gigi?

First day of School

I took pictures of the sleeping girls before I woke them. Ingrid started out in an outfit with white shorts but spilled her orange juice on them then Siggie had on an adorable lemonade outfit but when I was out of the kitchen her older sister convinced her to snort orange juice up her nose which also then sprayed all over her first day outfit. So I will have to take pictures this week of the outfits that were supposed to be for the first day so Helen can see them.
We followed tradition and had homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast the first day.
Sigrid is loving kindergarten she is amazed there is a "drive thru" her name for the cafeteria line. She also says all the girls at her school are pink and purple girls but she is a blue and green girl so she doesn't fit in with them well. She has a boy named Cade Powell in her room and I suggested she try being friends with him. She has had too many stories to post.

Donuts

The girls and I made homemade donuts this morning. They were delicious. We may have to do this again. The older two girls bought "maxi" dresses (aka long dresses). Siggie has 10 dollars of birthday money left and she said she was buying one. I sure thought my girls looked pretty this morning for church.

I survived another slumber party!

Astrid had her birthday party last night. What fun they had. They stayed outside the entire time. They played "crack the egg" on the trampoline, "telephone" or "gossip", flashlight tag, and Blairwitch hide and seek. For Blairwitch hide and seek, the hider has a cell phone and calls the house phone periodically and whispers hints as to where they are hiding. Iloved it because they stayed outside. They slept in a tent in the yard but got cold early this morning and came in. Now they are out playing "cops and robbers". There is one little girl here whose mother I know would not approve of her playing "cops and robbers" but oh well.....she has had a smile on her face the whole time.

4-5-2010

We have had an eventful week. Astrid broke her right arm. She cannot stand not being active. It is really bothering her. Then Astrid cut off 10 inches of her hair to donate to St. Jude's. This made Eric very sick.
Siggie turned 5 and today got her kindergarten shots. She was going to be brave. She was very brave on the first two and then the old nurse stuck the third one in the fatty part on the back of her left arm and Siggie screamed that she was burning her and her arm was on fire. After that she went and spent all of her birthday money from Pop and Gigi. I usually make them save some. I said "Siggie do you want to put some in the bank?" She said "Why when I can spend it?" Oh dear!
Ingrid also got her hair cut. She has been wanting "side" bangs and she talked the hair dresser into them. They do look cute.

Doctor

Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true? A: Your heart only good for so many beats and that it...don't waste on exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speeding up heart not make you live longer; it like saying you extend life of car by driving faster. Want to live longer? Take nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiency. What does cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So steak is nothing more than efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef also good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And pork chop can give you 100% of recommended daily allowance of vegetable product.
Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that mean they take water out of fruity bit so you get even more of goodness that way. Beer also made of grain. Bottom up!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have body and you have fat, your ratio one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? A: Can't think of single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain...good!
Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU NOT LISTENING! Food are fried these day in vegetable oil. In fact, they permeated by it. How could get more vegetable be bad for you?!? Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only be doing sit-up if you want bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy?!? HEL-LO-O!! Cocoa bean! Another vegetable! It best feel-good food around!
Q: Is swimming good for your figure? A: If swimming good for your figure, explain whale to me.
Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle? A: Hey! 'Round' a shape! Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. AND.....For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies. 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than us. 5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than us.
CONCLUSION:Eat and drink what you like.Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Astrid and Ingrid have completed their 1st Marathon

The girls went to Little Rock to finish their marathon. They had fun 25 miles during their recesses at school and ran the last one in Little Rock. Astrid was the first girl from her school across the finish line and Ingrid was not far behind. It was a fun day and I am proud of my girls.

Snow Days

Well two of my children ran off to Pop's last night. But one sweet girl stayed home. I lay on the couch reading a book about Queen Elizabeth I when she came in dressed in costume as an Officer Gutzman and was wanting to arrest me for not paying my bills. Ingrid has such an imagination and she kept me in stitches with her skits last night. In the picture she is dressed as Officer Gutzman. This morning she braved the snow to make a couple of snow angels. Her sisters have come home so they are all playing together sweetly for now.
